The Impact of Computational Corpus Linguistics on the Development of Modern Lexicography – The Contemporary Dictionary of Sakhr Company as a Model.
Abstract
This study aims to highlight the importance of computational corpus linguistics in serving the noble Arabic language at all its linguistic levels, particularly in the lexical and lexicographic domain.
This field represents a qualitative leap for linguistic research in general and for lexicographic work in particular.
Believing that our era is the age of computers, linguistic research has shifted from a purely human and local framework to a technological tool that enables efficiency, brevity, and optimization in all areas of knowledge.
This is evident in the massive surge of electronic programs that enhance the status of language within the field of linguistics in general, and Arabic linguistic studies in particular.
Accordingly, this paper seeks to demonstrate the significance of computational corpus linguistics and its impact on the development of modern lexicography, specifically the transition from the traditional paper dictionary consulted manually to the computerized electronic dictionary accessible automatically.
