Abstract

The article deals with the aesthetics of ugliness and prostitution in the
novel The Secret Reports of the Leader's State by the Tunisian novelist
Manoubi Zeyoud, a modern novel that deals with issues of politics and society and uses the lexicon of ugliness and prostitution. It is a modern novel that deals with issues of politics and society and uses the lexicon of prostitution and ugliness, as we find the narrator reviewing the world of the prostitute woman, digging into the world of the distorted politician, and delving into the distorted bodies in a comical and satirical way, exploring the semiotics of colors between whispering and exposure, and making sure to portray the characters of the novel carefully, focusing on their brutal nature. The importance of prostitution and ugliness, the most prominent theme of the novel, is evidenced by the fact that
the novel opens with a passage that perpetuates the image of filth, both in place and characters, as the city of prostitution has given up its soul to a group of new thieves, manifested in the prostitution of its characters, places, and time. In addition to the characters' immorality and ugliness, immorality and ugliness are also semiotically associated with blackness, a dark blackness that characterizes the novel's cover and is interrupted only by worn-out sheets that testify to the past and write in red ink confidential reports, which reveals from the outset the
novel's imaginary world and its contact with the reference and the living
