The effectiveness of The Praat program in monitoring the quantities descriptive of Suprasegmental phonemes phenomena - Accent phenomenon as a model -

Abstract

This study falls within the framework of the so-called automated language processing, at its phonemic level; through it, we seek to highlight the role of the computer program “Praat” for analyzing audio signals, in monitoring the descriptive quantities of the linguistic sound, and using it in tracing the Suprasegmental phonemes phonetic phenomena, especially the phenomenon of Accent in Standard Arabic. For this purpose, we will present the theoretical framework of the study; which explains the audio phenomenon referred to above, and we will also provide a brief definition of the Praat audio program, and then we will turn to the applied study; Through which we stand on the efficacy of this computer program in identifying and tracking Accent at the level of the classical Arabic word.
