Abstract

This paper is an introduction to the book 'The Researcher guide to arabic computational linguistics written by my colleague Khaled Jabr and T in which we underline the importance of its transformation into a database and website. This paper is divided into three chapters. The first entitled "Computational linguistics and its role in building a knowledge society’, is based on the idea that computational linguistics plays an essential role in filling the informational gap existing between the arab countries and the developed world, and is therefore necessary for arab societies to enter the age of knowledge and information.
The second chapter is entitled "The researcher guide to arabic computational linguistics' and introduces in detail the importance of the guide and its methodology in addition to the encountered difficulties during its realisation. The third chapter is entitled “Towards a database for arabic Computational linguistics' and takes an in depth look into how the book can be initially transformed into a database and then into a website.
