Multilingualism and the problem of expression among primary school learners -a field study conducted on a sample of primary education teachers in the city of setif-
Abstract
The study aims to know the relationship of multilingualism to the weakness of the linguistic balance (eloquent) of the learner, from the point of view of teachers, by approaching the expression of the learner in the primary stage, in its social ,educational and cultural dimension ,by asking the following question :Is there a relationship between multilingualism and the ability to express eloquently ,the intellectual balance (social, educational and cultural) of the primary stage learner from the point of view of teachers ? The study started from previous studies as a theoretical framework ,in order to approach to the phenomenon historically, then the concepts of the study were identified, and to answer the question, the interview was adopted as a tool for data collection by asking a set of questions it was directed to a sample of primary education teachers in the city of setif , after which the content of the interviews was analyzed ,and the following results were reached : The reality is that the learner in the primary stage suffers from a weakness in correct and fluent expression ,due to the expression in more than one language in one sentence, in addition to the imbalances that every language knows, especially the arabic language ,which has become alienated by its learners ,and only its name remains… The problem of expression for the learner in the primary stage in light of multilingualism is due to the social dimension. Which is embodied in the impact of the family and the social milieu on the learner .and to the educational dimension, it is represented in the programs and teaching methods adopted by the teacher with in the department and to the cultural dimension of the weak self-identity and of the vulnerability of globalization
