The concept of intuition in transformative generative theory
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper focuses on the concept of intuition and its role in the
generative transformational theory which defines this concept as a source of
the linguistic data which reflect the speaker’s knowledge of his language.
The problem of intuition became the focus of the linguists interested in
language as a social tool of communication because they have considered
language as a mode of action and interaction; so this methodology was
rejected and it became complicated when no clear distinction was made
between Competence and Performance and between the supposed ideal
language and the language used in communication.
