Linguistic Circle of Copenhagen and placing linguistics among formal sciences

Abstract
In this research, I will present the linguistic theory project that had been developed by a group of
researchers - leaded by Louis Hjelmslev (1899-1965) – from Danish universities like Aarhus and
Copenhagen, and that was called “Glossematics”. My problematic turns fundamentally around this
question: what are the most pertinent terms of this theory, in which scientific context they had been
conceived and what is their theoretical and practical value? Then, I will analyse a secondary
question concerning the reception of this theory by Arab researchers and translators. My approach
method is limited by the investigation of Danish researchers’ literature under an epistemological
eye. Afterwards, I will present and comment some Arabic texts dealing with this theory
