Teaching French and English in Primary School: Teachers’ Perceptions and Pedagogical Implementation Challenges

Abstract
In light of recent reforms in the Algerian educational system, English has been introduced as a second foreign language taught in primary school, alongside French. This change raises a central question: how can teachers manage the simultaneous teaching of two foreign languages to young learners at an early stage of their cognitive and linguistic development? To address this issue, we conducted a questionnaire-based survey targeting third-year primary school teachers, with the aim of exploring their perceptions regarding the integration of English into the curriculum and understanding the challenges they face in teaching both languages in the classroom.
