Résumé

Parler est une de nos activités préférées. Nous produisons en effet environ 16000 mots par jour, ce qui est énorme, et ce, de façon relativement précise puisque nous commettons moins d’un lapsus pour 1000 mots produits. En revanche, la production du langage à l’écrit est une activité moins pratiquée (même si les échanges électroniques – SMS et emails – sont de plus en plus nombreux), jugée difficile avec des niveaux de maîtrise variables. Après un tour d’horizon sur quelques généralités concernant la production du langage et la façon dont on l’étudie scientifiquement, nous envisagerons certaines problématiques de recherches actuelles dans ce domaine. En particulier, nous aborderons des questions telles que : « combien de niveaux de traitement sont nécessaires pour fabriquer les mots ? », « y a-t-il une spécificité de la production verbale écrite par rapport à celle orale ? », « comment l’information circule-t-elle d’un niveau de traitement à l’autre ? » « pourquoi certains mots sont-ils produits plus vite que d’autres ? »
